Having a problem with mod rewrite and htaccess

Hi,

I am at the end of my tether. I have used many WHM/cPanel hosting acocunts before and usually tackle the mod rewrite/.htaccess problem successfully.

Not this time! I have mod rewrite enabled in WHM on my server. I rewrote the code for the .htaccess file and chmod it to 777.

But no files in Wordpress can be edited.

PLEASE HELP!!
